No. There are no formal prerequisites for the BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis. The course starts with the role and purpose of business analysis before moving into the main techniques and concepts.

No. The BCS Foundation certificate is not a prerequisite for BCS Business Analysis Practice, BCS Requirements Engineering or BCS Modelling Business Processes. If you already know which specialist capability you need, you can take the relevant practitioner module directly.

The Foundation Certificate can fulfil the knowledge-based module requirement within the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis pathway offered by Knowledge Train. It is one part of that route, not a prerequisite for the practitioner modules.

The exam, demystified

The exam tests your understanding across the Foundation syllabus, including the role of business analysis, strategy, investigation, stakeholders, processes, requirements, solutions and business cases.

Work through the full Foundation course, use the official manual if you are on instructor-led training, and complete the sample papers and practice questions provided so that you are familiar with the terminology and question style.

You receive a provisional result immediately after the online exam. BCS then confirms the result and makes the digital certificate available through the BCS e-professional portal.

The BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis does not require periodic renewal.

You can retake the exam. A further exam fee applies unless a specific resit offer is included with your booking.

You can deepen your skills with BCS Business Analysis Practice, BCS Requirements Engineering or BCS Modelling Business Processes. Foundation can also count as the knowledge-based module within Knowledge Train's BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis pathway.
