Which AgileBA course should you choose?
AgileBA has two certification levels, Foundation and Practitioner. Choose Foundation if you want to understand the AgileBA approach, the role of the agile business analyst and the core techniques used to work with stakeholders, requirements and agile delivery.
Choose Foundation and Practitioner if you want to complete both levels in one structured programme and develop the ability to apply AgileBA guidance to more complex, scenario-based situations.
If you already hold AgileBA Foundation and only need Practitioner training, you do not need to repeat Foundation - contact us and we can arrange Practitioner-only training.
For people who want a practical introduction to agile business analysis. The course covers AgileBA concepts, the role of the agile business analyst, stakeholder engagement, requirements and user stories, modelling, planning and control. No previous AgileBA qualification is required.
For people who want to complete both certification levels in one 4-day programme. Foundation establishes the concepts and terminology, then Practitioner develops your ability to apply and tailor AgileBA in realistic scenarios. Both exams are included.

AgileBA certification
How AgileBA certification works
AgileBA certification is administered by APMG International and has Foundation and Practitioner qualification levels. Foundation qualification demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the approach, while Practitioner certification assesses whether you can apply AgileBA guidance and judgement to realistic scenarios. The two qualification levels are related, but they serve different purposes: Foundation establishes the common concepts and techniques; Practitioner builds on that knowledge and is aimed at applied capability.
You do not need any previous AgileBA qualification to take Foundation. To sit the Practitioner exam, however, you must first have passed AgileBA Foundation. The combined course is structured around that requirement, with Foundation covered before the Practitioner stage.
Foundation shows that you understand the core AgileBA concepts, roles, terminology and techniques used by business analysts in agile environments. It is the entry level and has no formal prerequisites.
Practitioner goes beyond knowledge recall and tests whether you can apply AgileBA guidance to scenario-based situations. It is intended for people who need to use the approach in practice.
Yes. A pass in the AgileBA Foundation exam is a formal prerequisite for the Practitioner exam. If you take the combined course, Foundation is completed before Practitioner.
You can progress directly to Practitioner training. Because Practitioner-only courses are not offered as a separate online booking, contact Knowledge Train and we can arrange the training for you.
APMG International administers the AgileBA examinations and awards the AgileBA certificates.
The AgileBA Foundation certificate is valid for life and does not require renewal.
Passing Practitioner gives you Registered Practitioner status for five years. A shorter Re-Registration exam can be taken between years three and five to maintain that status. If you do not re-register, the Practitioner certificate itself remains valid, but Registered Practitioner status lapses.
Foundation is a 40-minute, closed-book multiple-choice exam with 50 questions and a 50% pass mark. Practitioner is a 2.5-hour, open-book objective test based on scenarios, with four questions worth 20 marks each and a 50% pass mark.
