Essentials for PMO Administrators equivalents include a Foundation Certificate in AgilePM®, APM PFQ, CAPM, MSP, PgMP®, PM4SD™, PMQ, PMP®, Praxis Framework™ or PRINCE2®, and any other project management certificate at a Foundation level (including internal or non-certified courses).

Essentials for PMO Analysts and Managers equivalents include a Practitioner Certificate in either P3O®, PRINCE2®, Praxis Framework™, AgilePM®, MSP®, PRINCE2 Agile, APM PFQ, PMQ, PM4SD™, PMP®, PgMP®, or CAPM or equivalent.

Do I need PMO experience to take a House of PMO Essentials course?

Essentials for PMO Administrators has no prerequisites and is ideal if you are new to PMOs or work in project support. Essentials for PMO Analysts requires Essentials for PMO Administrators, or a Foundation-level certification (such as PRINCE2, AgilePM, MSP or PMP), or equivalent experience. Essentials for PMO Managers and Essentials for PMO Directors both require a Practitioner-level certification (such as P3O, PRINCE2, MSP or PMP), or 3 years’ experience in a PMO, project, programme or portfolio environment.

Which House of PMO Essentials course should I choose?

If you work in PMO administration or project support, choose Essentials for PMO Administrators. If you focus on analysis and reporting, choose Essentials for PMO Analysts. If you manage a PMO, Essentials for PMO Managers is usually the best fit. Senior leaders responsible for PMO strategy should consider Essentials for PMO Directors.

How are the House of PMO Essentials courses delivered?

The course is delivered live online by an instructor via our training ATO partner, House of PMO. You join scheduled sessions, take part in explanations and discussions, and prepare for the relevant House of PMO Essentials exam.

Is the exam included?

Yes. Each House of PMO Essentials course includes the corresponding exam for your chosen level. Full exam details are provided in your joining instructions.

Do I need to take the Essentials courses in order?

No. You can start with the course that best matches your current role and experience. However, many people new to PMO roles start with Essentials for PMO Administrators or Essentials for PMO Analysts before moving on to the Manager or Director courses.

What is the format of the exams?

All House of PMO Essentials exams are multiple choice and closed book. The number of questions and duration vary by level, but you will receive full details before you sit your exam.

Are the courses suitable if I mainly work in projects or programmes, not in a PMO?

Yes. The courses are suitable for project and programme professionals who work closely with PMOs or who want to move into a PMO role. They help you understand how PMOs support delivery, governance and decision-making.

Will I receive a certificate after passing the exam?

Yes. When you pass the relevant exam, you will receive a House of PMO Essentials certification for that role, issued through the official certification body.

How long do I have access to course materials?

For instructor-led courses, you will receive joining information and materials before your course and retain access to key resources for a defined period after the training. Full details are provided in your joining instructions.
