PRINCE2 study FAQs

PRINCE2 home studyAs a provider of PRINCE2 training, Knowledge Train knows that PRINCE2 eLearning is a popular way of studying for the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner qualifications.

How does PRINCE2 eLearning work?
You can complete our PRINCE2 online training and online exam preparation on your computer or laptop at home (or even in another location, if you prefer, such as your office). The full PRINCE2 syllabus is covered during the professionally-narrated training, and the official PRINCE2 sample exam questions are included in the exam preparation. You do not need to attend any classes. You can study whenever you want.

How long does PRINCE2 take?
You are likely to spend about 35 hours completing the Foundation & Practitioner online training and exam preparation. We understand that different people learn at different speeds; you may want to complete the home study within a couple of weeks or spread it out over several months instead. With 12 months’ access to the home study resources, you can take your time and don’t need to rush when studying.

If you are taking a PRINCE2 classroom course, then the time taken is 2.5 days for PRINC2 Foundation and a further 2 days for Practitioner including the exam time. In addition there is some pre-course reading of between 4-5 hours and up to 2 hours per night oh homework.

How do I get help when studying PRINCE2 at home?
Our PRINCE2 online training gives you access to online help from our experienced PRINCE2 trainer. If you need help or have questions about PRINCE2, post a message in our discussion forum and the trainer will aim to respond within 24 hours. With this kind of trainer support, you should easily be able to solve any difficulties you may have when studying PRINCE2.

How do I take a PRINCE2 exam?
After studying, if you want to take a PRINCE2 exam and you are based in the UK, you have the option of either doing the exams at our London venue, or you can do the exams online at home with a web cam. For students abroad, you can do the exams online at home with the use of a web cam. If you take the PRINCE2 exam online, this uses special virtual proctor software. You must book your exam in advance but our training advisors can give you all the details.

Do I need any books?
You might wish to purchase the latest version of the PRINCE2 manual, called Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 (2009 edition) to support what you learn during your eLearning. The manual is not essential for the Foundation (which is the introductory level of PRINCE2), but we recommend it for the Practitioner (the advanced level of PRINCE2). Please note that you can’t use the manual during the Foundation exam, but you can use it to help you during the Practitioner exam.

Do I need to go anywhere in person?
You don’t need to go anywhere in person when you are completing the eLearning.

Will I get a qualification/certificate?
By passing a PRINCE2 exam, you would achieve PRINCE2 certification from AXELOS. The PRINCE2 certificate is the same whether you have studied from home or in a classroom.
