East Midlands Airport (previously known as Nottingham East Midlands Airport until it reverted to its original name) serves Nottingham, which is located at Castle Donington in Northwest Leicestershire, some 15 miles (24 km) southwest of the city centre.
Railways
Nottingham functioned as a significant interchange for various trains and mineral lines that serviced the city, its suburbs, and the nearby collieries. Nottingham Station, previously Nottingham Midland, which is the second busiest railway station in the Midlands for passenger admissions and exits, offers rail services for the city, with links offered by CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, and Northern.
Buses
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is the city’s largest transportation provider, with 330 buses. NCT has received five UK Bus Operator of the Year awards, most recently in 2019.
Nottingham was declared England’s least car-dependent city by the Campaign for Better Transport in September 2010.
