Theatre and performing arts
The Royal & Derngate Theatre is one of the main venues for arts and entertainment in Northampton . The Deco is a 900-seat theatre and conference centre. Smaller theatres include the Northampton Playhouse and the Cripps Theatre, which is part of Northampton School for Boys.
Cinemas in Northampton include the Vue at Sol Central and Cineworld at Sixfields. There is also the civic Forum Cinema at Lings Forum, which screens art-house and non-mainstream films.
The Northampton Filmhouse, which is attached to the Royal & Derngate theatre complex, opened in June 2013.
Live music venues include The Roadmender, which hosts mainstream touring bands and one off-gigs.

Libraries, museums and galleries
The Northamptonshire Central Library in the town centre is a Grade II listed building. Other public libraries are dotted across Northampton.
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery has several permanent and visiting exhibitions. There is also a smaller Grade I listed historical museum in the former Abington Park house.
The Northampton Arts Collective is found opposite the Northampton Museum, near the Royal & Derngate theatre.

The town is home to Premiership rugby union team Northampton Saints, who play at Franklin’s Gardens.EFL League Two football club Northampton Town are based at Sixfields Stadium.
Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are based at the County Ground, in the Abington area.
The Silverstone Circuit, current home of the British Grand Prix, is a few miles south of Northampton. Rockingham Motor Speedway and Santa Pod Raceway are a few miles north and east of Northampton respectively, the latter offering a range of drag racing events.
