Art Theatres
Leicester has several notable art theatres.
Curve is a theatre in Leicester, England, located in the city’s cultural centre. It was previously known as the Leicester Performing Arts Centre. It is located next to the Leicester Athena conference and banqueting centre.
The £15 million Peepul Centre, designed by Andrzej Blonski Architects, opened in 2005 and features an auditorium, restaurant, web café, gym, and dance studio for the local community, as well as being utilised for conferences and events.

Leicester is well known for its world-class museums and a culturally diversified setting.
One of the famous public museums is The Leicester Museum & Art Gallery (New Walk Museum and Art Gallery until 2020) located in New Walk, Leicester, in the city centre. It was one of the first public museums in the United Kingdom, opening in 1849. It features foreign and local exhibits of science, history, and art.

Festivals
Every year, Leicester hosts several events. Leicester Comedy Event is the United Kingdom’s largest comedy festival. The Leicester Comedy Festival is an annual comedy festival conducted early in the year in a variety of venues in Leicester, England. The festival began in 1994 with 40 activities in 23 sites around Leicestershire over seven days, attracting 5,000 people. The festival presently draws over 60,000 visitors from across the world and is regarded as one of the “Top 5 Comedy Festivals in the World” (The Guardian).
Leicester Pride is an annual LGBT pride festival held in Leicester, England, that began in 2001.The launch initiative aimed to include the lesbian and gay community in the development of the Leicester Pride Carnival, as well as to include the entire community in the carnival itself and to foster greater understanding. Arts Council England provided funding. The free event begins with a march from the city centre to Victoria Park.
The Leicester International Short Film Festival is an annual event that began in 1996 with the slogan “Seconds Out.” It has grown to become one of the most major short film festivals in the United Kingdom, generally taking place in early November at sites such as the Phoenix Square.
