Every year, Leicester hosts several events. Leicester Comedy Event is the United Kingdom’s largest comedy festival. The Leicester Comedy Festival is an annual comedy festival conducted early in the year in a variety of venues in Leicester, England. The festival began in 1994 with 40 activities in 23 sites around Leicestershire over seven days, attracting 5,000 people. The festival presently draws over 60,000 visitors from across the world and is regarded as one of the “Top 5 Comedy Festivals in the World” (The Guardian).
Leicester Pride is an annual LGBT pride festival held in Leicester, England, that began in 2001.The launch initiative aimed to include the lesbian and gay community in the development of the Leicester Pride Carnival, as well as to include the entire community in the carnival itself and to foster greater understanding. Arts Council England provided funding. The free event begins with a march from the city centre to Victoria Park.
