Timings
Start finish times
The course runs from 09:30 to 17:00 for 3 days.
Precourse
There is precourse reading of about 4 hours.
Homework
There is homework of about 2 hours for the first 2 nights.
Exam time
The Foundation exam takes place at 16:00 on day 3.
Exams
APMG International Change Management Foundation exam
This exam is included in the course. The exam is taken on day 3 of the course.
- Prerequisites: none;
- Exam duration: 40-minutes;
- Exam questions: multiple-choice;
- Pass mark: 25 out of 50 (50%);
- Book allowed: no.
- Results: within 30 minutes.

Each day is divided into 4 sessions of approximately 1.5 hours each. The topics covered in each session are:
Day 1
Session 1
- Introductions and Objectives;
- The Change Management Context;
- Learning and the individual - learning process and styles; learning dip.
Session 2
- Change and the Individual - models of individual change; motivation; individual differences.
Session 3
- Change and the Organization - metaphors of organizations; organization culture and change; models of change.
Session 4
- Change and the Organization - key roles; drivers of change; developing a vision.
Homework: 2 hours.
Day 2
Session 1
- Stakeholder strategy - principles; identifying and segmenting stakeholders.
Session 2
- Stakeholder strategy - personas and empathy maps; stakeholder mapping; influencing strategies.
Session 3
- Communication and engagement - communications biases; feedback and communications approaches; communicating change – factors, barriers and approaches.
Session 4
- Communication and engagement - communications channels (Push-Pull & Lean-Rich); planning communications.
Homework: 2 hours.
Day 3
Session 1
- Change impact - identifying and assessing impact; stakeholder impact assessment; severity assessment.
Session 2
- Change readiness - motivation to change and supporting individuals; change agent networks; building organizational readiness; building the team; change management plan; preparing for resistance.

Session 4
- Foundation examination (40 mins) - marking and results;
