PRINCE2 is the world’s most popular project management methodology. By the start of 2016, more than 1.4 million people worldwide had obtained PRINCE2 certification. You will see PRINCE2 as a requirement on many job descriptions these days, especially in the UK.
We offer PRINCE2 certification at 2 levels:
PRINCE2 Foundation certification
You can obtain your PRINCE2 Foundation certification by taking any of the following training methods:
- Attend a 2.5 day classroom weekday Foundation course
- Attend a 2 day classroom weekend Foundation course
- Study using our online Foundation course
Each of the 3 above training options come with a Foundation exam included. The syllabus for each study option is the same because the courses are accredited by PEOPLECERT. All our accredited PRINCE2 training courses must comply with the syllabus which is written by AXELOS, the owners of PRINCE2.
Who is the target audience?
This course is ideal if you’re new to project management and/or PRINCE2 and if you work on or would like to begin working on projects.
By the end of one of our Foundation-level PRINCE 2 online courses you’ll have gained an understanding of the PRINCE2 methodology, its terminology and how to act as an informed member of a project team which uses PRINCE2.
PRINCE2 is also good for people from a non-project management background (such as developers with qualifications such as Scrum) who want to learn about project management in ways which complements existing agile knowledge.
PRINCE2 Foundation exam
All of our Foundation-level courses comes with a 1-hour PRINCE2 Foundation exam. For students taking our Foundation PRINCE2 courses the pass rate for this exam is 99%. You’ll get your results straightaway after the exam.
Passing the Foundation exam is a prerequisite for obtaining the higher-level Practitioner certification.
PRINCE2 Practitioner certification
You can obtain your Practitioner certification by any of the following training options. If you already have your PRINCE2 Foundation certification:
- Attend a 2-day classroom weekday PRINCE2 Practitioner course
- Attend a 2-day classroom weekend PRINCE2 Practitioner course
- Study using our online PRINCE2 Practitioner course
Or, if you haven’t already obtained your PRINCE2 certification at Foundation level, one of the following training options is suitable:
- Attend a 4.5 day classroom PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner course
- Attend a 4 day (2 weekends) classroom PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner course
- Study using our online PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner course
All the accredited courses above come with the Practitioner exam and the syllabus for each study option is the same.
Who is the target audience?
PRINCE2 Practitioner is highly sought after by employers when hiring project managers. Practitioner certification builds upon the knowledge which you gained at Foundation level and shows that you can apply PRINCE2 on non-complex projects.
Practitioner certification is a great career booster and is ideal if you’re taking on more project-based work, looking to find new skills to apply at work, or are looking to move into a project manager role. In fact, PRINCE2 is so popular amongst employers now, you’ll often see it required for many roles which aren’t even project management roles.
Sometimes practicing programme managers with certifications such as MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) take PRINCE Practitioner to complement their existing certification.
Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner status
After passing your Practitioner exam, you’ll be able to call yourself a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner. This status lasts for 5 years. It means you can add this title onto your CV and business card. After 3 years you cannot continue to do this.
After 3 years, if you want to continue to call yourself a Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner, you need to either pass another Practitioner exam, or have held a valid AXELOS membership for 3 years.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What's included in the price?
Your online course includes the following:
- Accredited PRINCE2 e-learning
- Online feedback from an approved PRINCE2 trainer
- Sample online PRINCE 2 exams
- Exam voucher(s)
For the online Foundation course, the e-learning has been designed to not need the official PRINCE2 manual. For the online Practitioner courses it is recommended that you purchase a manual. You can do that when you purchase the e-learning.
How does e-learning work?
You can complete our online training and online exam preparation on your computer or laptop at home (or even in another location, if you prefer, such as your office). You can even self-study on the move because all you need is an internet connection.
The full PRINCE2 syllabus is covered during the professionally narrated training, and the official sample exam questions are included in the exam preparation. You can study and take the exams whenever you want.
The e-learning also works on any device – desktop, mobile or tablet.
Is this the same as distance learning?
Basically yes. Traditional distance learning usually meant you would be sent assignments by a remote teacher. In our online course, all the exercises are built-in so you don't have to wait for a trainer to send you materials. Plus, at any time you can contact our trainer if you have any questions about the materials.
Why does your course cost more than others?
The cost of taking a PRINCE 2 online course is somewhere in the middle of the range. It’s true that you can get much cheaper e-learning than ours. However, not all e-learning is the same. Some (like ours) are highly interactive, and have been designed with the best practices in instructional design. Our online courses are designed to engage your mind, and to provoke longer-lasting and deeper understanding. Courses designed like ours cost a lot to develop.
Cheaper online courses are often simply video recordings of a tutor talking over a PowerPoint background. They are cheap to produce, but do not engage learners and do not lead to longer-lasting learning. They require longer time to study because the learning methods employed are not very effective. Quite simply, they are boring for users.
How long does it take to get my exam results?
It depends upon where you take your exam. If you take it online, you get your result almost immediately.
If you come to our examination room in London your trainer will mark your Foundation exams and will usually give you your score before you leave the class. For the Practitioner exam, your paper will be electronically scanned to enable you to get your results the same-day.
Do you offer discounts for group bookings?
Yes. It’s best to discuss your training needs with one of our representatives to discuss what we can do.
Who is online training suitable for?
Many people choose to gain their PRINCE2 certification online because they are unable to attend a classroom course. Perhaps they live too far away to travel to the training room. Sometimes students are unable to take time off work to attend. These are some common reasons why people buy our e-Learning instead.
There are also some people who simply prefer home-study in the comfort of their own home. They can study at their own pace and take the exam(s) when they are ready. These are all reasons why people choose e-learning.
Does the course include exams?
Your Foundation e-learning comes with the Foundation exam. Your Practitioner e-learning comes with the Practitioner exam. You can choose to take your exam within the period of validity of the e-learning.
Will I get a qualification/certificate?
If you pass the PRINCE2 exam, you will achieve PRINCE2 certification from AXELOS. The certificate is the same whether you have studied from home or in a classroom.
When will I get my certificate?
If you pass the PRINCE2 exam your certificate will be available for download about 3 working days from the date of your exam.
I have no experience of project management. Can I still take a course?
Yes. The Foundation course is the entry-level PRINCE2 qualification and Practitioner is the higher-level qualification. We get a lot of students on both courses without any previous project management experience. Both courses will offer you a good understanding of PRINCE 2. The Practitioner course, however, focuses more on applying the framework, and so is better if you are seeking a career move into project management.
Both qualifications look great on your CV and, especially in the UK, you’ll find these qualifications highly demanded by employers.
Are there any prerequisites for the course?
For the Foundation course there are no prerequisites. If you want to sit the Practitioner exam, then you must have already passed the Foundation exam.
How long does the qualification last?
PRINCE2 certificates never expire. However, you are only able to call yourself a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner for 3 years after taking (and passing) the Practitioner exam. After that period, if you want to continue to call yourself a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner, then you must either sit the Practitioner exam again or follow through the AXELOS membership programme to keep your registered status.
Will this qualification help me to get a job?
In many countries, especially in the UK and Europe, more and more employers are looking for candidates with PRINCE2 certification. Without certification, you’ll be at a disadvantage compared to candidates who have the certification.
Are there any example exam questions?
Yes – as part of your online course you will get access to 2 full sample Foundation and 2 full sample Practitioner exam papers.
How well known is the PRINCE2 methodology?
PRINCE 2 is extensively used in the UK both in the public and private sectors. It is also popular in other countries around the world, especially in Europe and Australia. PRINCE2 is growing fastest however in India.
What's the difference between the Foundation and Practitioner examinations?
Both exams are multiple choice exams. The Foundation exam lasts for 1 hour, and it tests candidates on the terminology and concepts of the methodology. The Practitioner exam lasts for 2.5 hours, but has different styles of multiple-choice question, and tests candidates on their ability to apply the method to a particular project scenario.
How many people have taken examinations?
By early 2016, more than 1.4 million examinations had been taken worldwide since 1996. Of these, almost half were taken in the UK.
Are the exams difficult?
The Foundation exam is more straightforward than the Practitioner exam. The latter requires you not only to understand the methodology, but also to apply it to a specific project scenario.

After your self-study is over, if you want to take a PRINCE2 exam and you are based in the UK, you have the option of either doing the exams at our London venue, or you can do the exams online at home with a web cam.
For students living abroad, you can do the exams online at home with the use of a web cam. If you take the exam online, this uses virtual proctor software which you can easily download and install on your computer. You must book your exam in advance, but our training advisors can give you all the details.
Do I need any books when studying online?
You might wish to purchase the latest version of the PRINCE2 manual to support what you learn during your e-learning. The manual is not essential for the Foundation part, but we recommend it for the Practitioner level.
