Funding for project management courses

Knowledge Train’s course advisors often talk to people who are interested in the possibility of receiving funding for their project management training. Outlined below are a number of potential funding sources, in order to help you compare some of the available options.

Your employer may pay for your course, particularly if the organisation feels that the skills you develop during the training would be beneficial to its business objectives. For example, a company undertaking a project might ask certain members of staff to obtain PRINCE2 certification, so that the firm can run the project effectively using PRINCE2.

Professional and Career Development Loans re commercial bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year’s relevant unpaid practical work). The Government will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. You will then need to start repaying the loan as you would any other commercial loans product. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries.

As the Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial loan product, you should make sure you have investigated all the funding options that may be open to you to ensure you take an informed decision about whether the Loan is right for you. For further information on financial assistance to support your learning, visit www.direct.gov.uk/adultlearning or contact Next Step on 0800 100 900.

Our learning provider registration number is: 20167.

Jobcentre Plus may decide that a particular training course would boost your employment prospects. If this is the case, they may also decide to cover the cost of the course for you. If you are unemployed and have registered at Jobcentre Plus, you could talk to an advisor at your local branch about the possibility of being allocated funding.

Response to Redundancy (R2R) is designed to support people for whom redundancy is an imminent threat. It is a national scheme administered at a regional level by selected organisations, helping workforces affected by the financial downturn. R2R representatives liaise with companies (whether in the private or public sector) confronted by the prospect of reducing staffing levels, in order to offer workers whose jobs are insecure the opportunity to receive careers advice. After consultation, R2R may recommend a series of activities intended to enhance your employment prospects. If training is required, R2R can provide either partial or full funding for a relevant course. If you are unable to fund the cost of a course yourself, Knowledge Train sincerely hopes that the above information is helpful.

"I have taken week long training courses with other training providers in the past but Knowledgetrain is exceptional. The one thing that I like about Knowledgetrain is the ease and pace at which the PRINCE2 course was delivered. There was no requirement to read the manual from back to back as other course providers would ask you to do. The course delivery was smooth, easy to understand, enjoyable and hardly any pressure. The course tutor was remarkable and took time to ensure that everyone had a good understanding of PRINCE2 in every way possible. I would surely recommend Knowledgetrain to my peers. "
